The UNO Robotics Team from Union Christian College achieved the position of First Runner Up in the Innovative Open Category (IOC) – High School division at the 9th Philippine Robothon, which took place at St. Paul College, Pasig City, on February 3, 2024. They secured this accolade, second to San Beda High School.

The winning team, comprising Julian Chan, Edsel Orpilla, Ulysses Linatoc, Ceidzrick Reola, and KC Caluscusin, under the guidance of their coach Rhina Jaramilla, presented the prototype of their project, the Arduino Smart Irrigation System. This innovative system aims to address crucial agricultural aspects such as crop health, soil erosion, and water irrigation. By doing so, it contributes to streamlining agricultural methods for both national and global food security.

The event was organized by First Eduspec Inc., UCC’s partner in providing robotics courses to Basic Education Schools.
